The Caribbean heat and humidity accelerates the aging process so that ageing is 2.5 times faster than in a cold climate.A minimum of eight years is seen as the optimal age to balance the rich fruit and spice flavours with the bittersweet notes from the wood. After ageing, it is blended to perfection from an initial blend of a selection of Bacardi's best young rums. These rums are carefully aged to allow flavours to deepen, becoming richer and smoother until a perfect balance is achieved.
The final Bacardi 8 year old rum product has a deep golden colour, a complex of prunes, apricots, vanilla and nutmeg over a clean oak base and a long expansive finish with a rounded palate.
