Caledonian has been brewing fine beers in Edinburgh since 1869, and is the only survivor of the 40 plus breweries that operated in Edinburgh during the 1800s.
Rescued from potential closure in 1987 by a team of dedicated investors, who were ably supported by a highly skilled workforce, the company set about establishing the renaissance of Scottish Cask Conditioned Beer. The Caledonian Brewing Co. Ltd., remains an independently owned company.
Caledonian Golden Promise has a pleasant golden colour and an aroma of light, hops, somehow reminiscent of a pilsner In the mouth a real bitter taste with an interesting woody, oak cask flavour. Aftertaste is of citrus floral hops.
