A bottling of cask strength of the unpeated Highland, bottled at 100 proof. This whisky does develop a distinct haze when diluted, on account of the natural oils that are not filtered out as with many lower strength whiskies.
Tasting Notes.
Appearance: Amber, syrupy. Sauternes.
Nose: Oak, sherry, digestive biscuits, sweet oatcakes, banana, apricot, peaches, marzipan and peardrops. Does not prick the nose, despite high strength.
Mouthfeel: Viscous, rich and filling.
Initial Taste: Smooth, sweet start, with some sherry and chocolate.
After Water: Becomes slightly waxy, with pepper at the tail.
Finish: Very long, stays with you until morning!
Comments: First released September 2004, this is a welcome addition to the family. This is 100 Proof, but you'd never know it. It slips down a treat and is probably at its best without water.
