Isle Of Skye Scotch Whisky
Isle of Skye is an exceptional blend, particularly smooth and mellow, with satisfying complexity and depth. There are several reasons for this, not the least being the unusually high proportion of first class Island and Speyside malts used in the blend.Furthermore, all malts used are aged to the peak of maturity (between 8 and 15 years) at their distillery of origin before being blended with mature grain whisky.Perfection is ensured by the now increasingly rare practice of returning the blend to cask for a minimum of 6 months to allow the flavours to 'marry'.
Tasting NotesAroma : Stunningly evocative. Deep peaty tones waft from the glass, like the reek from a crofter's lum. But there is a lot more beyond: the grains intermingle deliciously with oaky, vanilla notes and something malty and even slightly honeyed. The stuff of dreams.
Flavour : Sweet at first, and remarkably viscous. This seems to be the peat hanging around and there is intense barley sugar and spice. Massively flavoured. This creaminess continues for what seems hours. Remains sweet, spicy and chewy and at the end faintly nutty. The oak returns at the end.
