Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka is an original, authentic Polish flavoured vodka, known in Poland since the 17th century. Each bottle contains a blade of Bison Grass (hierochloe odorata). It is a light green / yellow colour which is produced by infusing rectified rye grain spirit with the bison grass. It takes between 1 - 2 kilos of grass to flavour 1000 litres of Zubrowka Bison Vodka. This plant grows in the wild in the Bialowieza Forest in northeast Poland. It smells of freshly mown hay and spring flowers, of thyme and lavender, and its soft on the palate.
Zubrowka Bison Vodka is traditionally consumed neat from the freezer or mixed with good pressed apple juice to make a drink called "Tatanka".
